Working as part of a highly regarded Actuarial team in London, you would be responsible for providing technical support (reserving, capital modelling and performance monitoring) in respect of insurance risk for AXA Insurance's Commercial business.

To be successful in this role, you are likely to be a part qualified actuary who has already completed some of the actuarial exams. Alternatively, you will have a strong background in statistical/mathematical analysis. You will also have experience of working with SAS and/or VBA.

What you will be doing

*
Providing appropriate actuarial analysis to support the assessment of claims reserves required for current and prior accident years.

*
Considering how claims, pricing, underwriting and market developments across AXA Insurance and the UK insurance sector influence performance and claims development patterns.

*
Providing actuarial analysis to support the assessment of capital requirement in respect of claims risks to support the delivery of the internal capital model.

*
Supporting the assessment of product profitability and the performance of the relevant lines of business.

*
Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the business, including Underwriting, Distribution and Reinsurance.

*
Provide timely and accurate actuarial Management Information, using actuarial skills and judgement, to support our stakeholders in their decision-making.

*
Continually seek to improve our processes and methodologies. Assisting in ensuring processes are efficient and enhanced to meet business needs and exceed customers’ expectations.

*
Supporting the Company’s audit methodologies and practices.

*
Supporting the Head of Actuarial in ensuring key controls are completed to mitigate risks, including fraud and financial mis-statement, and that documentation is kept up to date and complete.

Qualifications

To be successful, you will need:

*
A mathematical or statistics degree (or equivalent qualification), minimum level 2:1, or other numerate degree such as physics.

*
If working towards an actuarial qualification, someone making good progress in the Core Technical exams.

*
Strong IT skills, preferably including experience of VBA and ResQ or similar. Alternatively, transferable IT skills would be acceptable, e.g. proficiency in other computer languages.

*
Experience in General Insurance actuarial work is preferable or, as an alternative, strong analytical skills.

*
Ability to grasp the significance and meaning of a range of technical and complex issues.

*
Excellent communication skills are essential with ability to build relationships with the business and explain Actuarial concepts to non-actuaries.

*
Ability to work under pressure and commitment to meeting deadlines.

*
Strong attention to detail.

*
Pragmatism.

*
Enthusiastic for self-development.
