Communications Consultant - 3-4 month contract, Watford - Are you a Communications Consultant looking for a new challenge? Are you experienced in the food & grocery industry?
Reporting into the Communications Director, your role will be to provide effective in house communications support for this established organisation who are pioneers in their field.
This is a role for a robust, tenacious, creative and lateral thinking individual with great people skills. You'll be working with different teams and programmes, juggling their priorities and requirements to achieve results.
One day you could be pitching to media about the work that the organisation does in schools to inspire the next generation of food and grocery professional, the next communicating the work that the organisation is doing in bringing the industry together on food waste. Or you could be selling in a story about the impact of Brexit on shoppers in the food and grocery industry or writing a press release on what the grocery store of the future will encompass.
From copy writing to national media outreach, this role gets involved in all aspects of the corporate and commercial programmes.
You will be able to demonstrate:
*Positive and 'can-do' attitude, with an enthusiasm for the work that the organisation does that can be passed on to media and stakeholders alike
*10+ years of PR, communications or media relations experience, preferably with a news or B2B focus
*Proven track record of handling reactive and proactive media relations - with a bursting contact book of relevant media
*Knowledge of food and grocery industry essential as you will need to be experienced in knowing which is the relevant media to use
*Experience of senior internal and external stakeholder management
*Strategic communications capability - ability to find the story, create a campaign and decide the comms strategy from start to finish
*Outstanding written communication skills, including high level of attention to detail, excellent grammar and spelling
*Exceptional inter-personal skills
*Excellent copywriting skills and the ability to draft high level documents e.g. corporate copy, articles and press releases
*Able to review large quantities of information and extract relevant details
*Excellent organisation skills with drive to complete tasks accordingly whist working to tight deadlines
