If you're looking for the opportunity to launch your career the right way in the data industry, and love tackling difficult business problems through clever use of data. Working with cloud database solutions, using R and Python, designing the right solution to meet a business' needs - you've just landed on the right page.

As a Data Engineer for this data consultancy, that's exactly what you will be doing. Working with a variety of clients from across industries, designing data solutions which empower data scientists to do what they do best.

What they do

This consultancy specialises in Big Data solutions - both the engineer and build of new solutions (data engineering teams) and the analysis of (data science teams), working with Cloud based tech stacks and in an Agile methodology.

Those database solutions could be looking to resolve a variety of issue for clients, including:

  • Pricing analytics and strategies - taking complex, multi-source data and bringing it together into an environment which makes it minable and manageable
  • Building reporting solutions, the data feeds that populate them, ensuring feeds work, designing the dashboards
  • Building the data platforms which help establish new digital analytics and eCRM capabilities for companies, driving enhanced personalisation, trigger-based actions and connecting channels effectively to give joined up journeys
  • Data capture, store and mining for marketing attribution programmes

This opportunity will involve client facing elements. They're a growing company established within a fast-growth market, and despite this role looking for someone relatively new in their career to this space, you will be given the opportunity to showcase your potential with clients directly. It's also not a hierarchical operation, so you will be joining the CEO and other senior business leaders in those meetings and encouraged to share your thoughts and ideas to help with solution builds for client projects of work.

More about the company

This is a fast-growing data consultancy with offices in London and Scotland. The bulk of their client base is in London, so your time will be spent both in office and on client site. All travel will be expensed, and there is some travel required to visit their Scotland office from time to time too. This is mainly for cross-collaboration projects and various meetings.

Because the firm is growing, they've been investing in their people and culture to build and engaged workforce who really enjoy what they do, and the environment reflects a positive dynamic with plenty of learning and growth potential.

They are a 'tool/tech agnostic' consultancy - which means they won't push one tech stack or analytics tool over another with a client. It's all about which one is best to realise the result the client is looking for.

This also means you will have plenty of opportunity to learn new tools and technology in role too. But also worth mentioning the business will therefore be looking for someone who has a naturally curious mindset and is really keen to learn new things.

The team around you will mainly be data scientists with another data engineer on hand too in the London site to provide learning support. Their Scottish office reflects the reverse of this with a principally data engineering biased workforce and a couple of data scientists at that location.

Because of this mix there's a lot of collaborative working between the two offices to deliver to client projects, and so good pro-active communication is positively encouraged and there's plenty of meet ups and social occasions too.

Career Progression

The company has a roadmap for progression in role. With an annual review cycle which sets out measures for skills, competency and objectives to be achieved. Through that review period they will assess your readiness for progression to the next level, which will be a step-up to a senior graded remit.

They will also support on business relevant learning and develop opportunities you might like to undertake as well as any business suitable conferences or events you might like to attend.

A lot of this will be down to your own interest in learning and development with the business ready to support where appropriate and possible. So if you're keen to succeed and willing to stretch yourself, you've got a business here who's keen to help you achieve your career goals.

If this sounds like the kind of place you'd be keen to become a part of, why not apply using the links below.
