Overall Job Purpose

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced digital writer to work as Digital Journalist on MadeForMums, the leading parenting website in the UK for product reviews. You’ll be responsible for creating a fast-flow of original and engaging content (articles, reviews, shopping guides, social activity, newsletters, video, graphics and more) on this innovative digital brand, and ensuring that our content reaches an increasing audience across all of our channels.

At MadeForMums we help parents make confident choices - whether it's what to buy, what to do or what they need to know - and do so with a unique voice and personality. You’ll need sharp journalistic instincts, proven effective social media experience, an interest in consumer journalism, an ability to learn quickly, be adaptable and to love working as part of a close, friendly team.

You don’t need experience in the parenting market but do need a desire to develop a deep understanding of our audience and how to meet their needs, particularly from a product perspective.

Accountabilities

* Create a wide variety of daily content (product-focused and general parenting) for the site, social media and other content channels – including copy, imagery, video and audio
* Create and edit video, newsletters, infographics and shareable imagery
* Lead responsibility for at least one of MFM’s social channels
* Work as a ‘content entrepreneur’ – identifying opportunities to create new articles and update current content based on data analysis, plus in response to breaking news stories, social media trends, product opportunities and flurries of forum activity and user comments
* Meet personal traffic, affiliate and productivity targets for content and social media
* Use analytics tools to understand and increase user engagement and grow traffic to meet your own and team targets
* Attend press launches and consumer shows (in UK and abroad)
* Support MadeForMums’ product awards programmes, including content, social, operational and marketing tasks
* Edit content produced by other members of the editorial team and freelancers, ensuring the content is consistent with our brand values and voice
* Upload content onto our CMS (Wordpress based)
* Create and edit content to meet the needs of the commercial team and marketing partners
* Responsibility for other editorial duties when requested, such as competitions, mail-outs, editorial admin, PR coordination, user queries and more

Knowledge, Experience & Competencies

* Strong digital journalism skills including writing for mobile audiences, social, SEO and understanding of affiliate links
* Experience of video editing
* Strong visual eye with good PhotoShop skills
* Experience of using analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Crowdtangle and social media dashboards
* Good time management and organisational skills
* Experience of working with spreadsheets and Google docs
* Natural collaborator and team player
* Creative approach with an appetite for constant development
* Accomplished communication skills both in writing and speech
* Ability to learn fast and work on own initiative
* Ability to build upon the ideas of others
* Interest in the parenting market
