People are at the centre of everything we do, from the care we give to our patients and community to the development and support we provide to our staff, we pride ourselves on aiming to give them the very best. We know that excellent comms is key to achieving our ambition and that is why we are on the lookout for an experienced, energetic and motivated communications professional to help us achieve these outstanding results.

As this is a newly created post you will have a real opportunity to put your own personal stamp on how we transform our external and internal comms. Your drive and commitment will be crucial in developing and implementing a refreshed communications and engagement strategy across our organisation and by using your invaluable wealth of knowledge and expertise we know that you will succeed.

Your previous experience and knowledge will also mean that you will easily be able to engage and gain credibility with local and national media and build important relationships with a wide range of challenging stakeholders. Our Board and Executive team will be able to turn to you with confidence when seeking advice and guidance in crucial times and in turn they will work with you to achieve our vision.

Although previous NHS (or public sector) experience is not essential, you will need to have worked in a complex organisation with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will also need to be aligned to our values, putting our patients first and ensuring their voice continues to be part of our narrative.

With approximately 11,500 employees and a turnover of £810 million, we are one of the country’s largest university hospitals and provide local inpatient services to a population of 1.9 million people living in Southampton and South Hampshire. We also provide specialist services to over 3.7 million people living in southern England and the Channel Islands.

Key Dates in the Process:

Applications will close:                            12noon, Wednesday, 18 December 2019

Shortlisting interviews will be held:      w/c 6 January 2020

Final interviews will be held:                  TBC

We believe this is an exciting and potentially career defining opportunity, if you agree we would like to hear from you.
