Cross Border Payments within Global Commercial Payments Technology is a high-performing, dynamic team responsible for a cloud-based, highly available platform delivering digital FX capabilities across multiple markets. We disseminate core services for use by other internal AXP applications and partner closely with our business partners and both internal and external service providers. We are seeking an innovative and highly-motivated Engineering Director to join the CBP (Cross Border Payments) leadership team, to lead a number of collocated, full-stack engineering scrum teams (each with approximately 10 team members), to improve processes, service quality, strategic planning and people management.

Responsibilities:

*

Lead software development teams, obtaining necessary resources, acting as an escalation point and removing impediments to achieve goals and objectives.

*

Drive innovation within a fast paced, highly mature Agile environment, utilising SAFe methodology.

*

Cultivate an environment of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and personal/professional development.

*

Establish a culture of shared responsibility for development, deployment and operations

*

Recruit IT professionals with business and industry experience, and develop, reward and energize a competent, effective team within the technology organization. Identify and implement strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce.

*

Engage in hands-on design and ensure alignment of strategy, architecture, tools/methods with product management, software engineers and architects to execute product and technology roadmaps.

*

Collaborate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders within business and technology teams to drive change required to efficiently deliver enterprise commercial products.

*

Coach, guide and promote a pragmatic approach to create high quality, composable, scalable, and compliant deliverables across engineering teams.

*

Enable integrated teams to deliver technology solutions in support of key product initiatives by working closely with product owners, scrum masters, architects, engineers, and quality assurance.

*

Collaborate within and across business units to prioritize, plan, and execute the development schedule for major product releases.

Qualifications

Required skills:

*

In depth knowledge of payments landscape with a strong preference for deep FX experience.

*

Firm understanding of B2B payments industry and emerging product and technology trends in this domain.

*

Extensive software development experience with a demonstrable track record of building and / or leading development of platforms

*

Significant developing microservice based cloud platform solutions, including modernizing platforms to cloud native

*

Proven leadership experience of large, fast-paced and dynamic engineering teams

*

Extensive and recent hands-on experience engineering and successfully implementing complex, large scale, enterprise software products and cloud native platforms.

*

Experience leading development of enterprise-grade APIs.

*

Recent experience with agile development methodologies.

*

Recent hand-on experience with modern software engineering concepts (e.g. CI/CD, DevOps, rapid prototyping, test automation, containers, microservices, etc.).

*

Maturity managing complex platforms that require a deep understanding of application logic and dependencies.

*

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to flip seamlessly between customer, executive stakeholder and engineering dialogs.

*

Proven ability to influence at all levels of a matrixed organization across varying functions.

*

Ability to establish credibility with engineers quickly.

*

Capable of motivating people, instilling accountability and achieving results.

*

Proven ability to drive talent on-boarding, develop colleagues, and foster highly collaborative team.

*

Problem solving skills and reputation to remove impediments to rapid development.
