Exciting and challenging opportunity for super-smart, commercially-savvy self-starter with strong track launching and building OTC brands in the UK pharmacy and grocery sector across retail and e-commerce channels.  Communications planning, NPD, brand innovation, consumer insight and business strategy – this role has all the challenges you would want in your next big role!

Our client is a hugely successful and innovative business supplying infection prevention and control products to hospitals and healthcare organisations in the UK and international markets.  Led by inspirational entrepreneurs with a medical background, it has grown very rapidly, investing heavily in technology, R&D and people, with a mission to develop revolutionary products that improve environmental hygiene and reduce healthcare-associated infections.  The pace is fast and dynamic, but still retaining the feel of a small, flexile business that can shift direction quickly and drive real change.

In this high-profile role within its expanding, high-calibre marketing team, your remit will be to build a robust consumer proposition for some of the company’s products, and develop and execute marketing & comms campaigns to support a launch into retail and e-commerce channels.  This is a superb opportunity for the right person to enjoy brand ownership and make a significant impact on the business.

Key responsibilities include

  • Developing and execute a marketing plan to launch into the consumer healthcare market
  • Managing the positioning and messaging for the range(s) based on insight and market analysis
  • Presenting business cases for the project including market opportunity, revenue forecasts, R& go to market costs
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders, (R&D, NPD, Communications, Sales, Logistics) make sure their input is captured and their deliverables clear
  • Working in partnership with R&D and creative teams and agency partners to develop and sharpen marketing materials
  • Reviewing opportunities for future innovation and range development

Skills Checklist

  • Solid experience in consumer brand marketing for OTC and healthcare brands sold in the pharmacy and grocery sectors, and ideally e-commerce too
  • Hands-on success managing NPD projects and launching new brands including ATL, BTL and digital communications development
  • Strong communications and influencing skills – able to connect positively at all levels of the business and convince a senior audience on new strategic directions
  • Proactive self-starter – inquisitive, resourceful and ambitious
  • Strong written communications skills, able to write briefs, and develop outlines and draft copy for new marketing materials
  • Excellent project management skills, able to prioritise and focus effectively
  • A strong academic background quite possibly with a degree in a scientific discipline
