European Insight & Innovation Planner – Global FMCG

Exceptional candidate needed for this rare and exciting strategic insight & planning role with a remit to guide this global leader and innovator in the drinks industry into the next generation of growth opportunities.  With responsibility for seeking out early innovation start points and platforms based on deep consumer, cultural and category insight, your challenge will be to shape insight into compelling brand concepts, and then influence key stakeholders across the business to embrace opportunity areas and leverage them to drive real, incremental growth.  

Using cutting edge qual & quant techniques to identify and verify consumer trends, issues and behaviour, you will play a key role in developing new brand/product concepts; ensuring the innovation pipeline is grounded in clear, rigorous, creative and commercial thinking, taking into account differences in markets across Europe, as well as differences in consumer behaviour in the on and off trade.  The challenge is how to identify relevant opportunity areas and development/launch priorities in what is a very dynamic operating culture.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Proactively defining opportunities for growth and helping to create a robust innovation pipeline by unleashing deep consumer and cultural insight rooted in qual and quant data.
  • Creating breakthrough insight using the latest thinking in insight techniques, including the increasingly important emphasis on quantifiable data.
  • Creating a vibrant innovation culture within the business – immersing yourself and colleagues in European cultural and market context and consumer and shopper behavior.
  • Developing and applying a world class Innovation planning toolkit including all stages of primary and secondary research, ad-hoc and continuous, from methodology selection to agency management and reporting.

Exceptional consumer insight & research skills are essential for this demanding role with hands-on experience working as an insight professional, consumer planner or innovation/brand consultant with a significant focus on Innovation and Ideation.  Your skills will also include:

  • Insatiable curiosity for understanding consumers and shoppers and the world they exist in, with evidence in applying this to drive brand and business growth.
  • An ability to bring what the future might hold to today’s world, and then roadmap actions to make it happen.
  • Strong functional grasp of quant and qual methodologies, both ad-hoc and continuous, along with an innovative mindset to find ever better ways of understanding cultural, consumer and shopper insights.
  • Drive, resilience and influencing skills with the emotional intelligence to build collaborative and powerful relationships.
