The Global Consumer Services Group (GCSG) Investment Optimization team provides decision support by evaluating and prioritizing Prospect (new card members) and Customer (existing card members) Acquisition as well as Non-Acquisition (spend engagement, benefits reinforcement, etc.) investments.

This is a role that faces off multiple stakeholders across Marketing, Finance, EDA, Product and Risk to develop and access the impact of key marketing strategies.

This is a high-visibility role with frequent exposure to senior leaders in Business and Finance organizations. As such, the ideal candidate must possess not only exceptional analytical acumen, but also excellent communication skills and the ability to tailor complex messages to the appropriate audience in a very collaborative manner.

Key responsibilities include:


Help facilitate the global investment planning and R&O processes by driving alignment with the US and ICS IO teams on key deliverables including presentations for senior management reviews


Work directly with VP GCSG IO on aligning goals and priorities across the global team and driving team engagement and development


Help to manage global IO tracking process; coordinate efforts across global team to produce monthly global tracking deck for senior leadership


Work with members of US IO team to consolidate and prioritize necessary TM1 builds to improve workflow for IO team and customers in marketing and LFO organisation


Address data requests from senior leadership offices and coordinate with global team to gather data and tell a global story


Leverage the card member value models to develop ad-hoc business cases, analyze portfolio performance and channel profitability to optimize AXP’s advertising and promotion investment pool


Provide tactical support to International IO team based in London


Managing relationships across the cross-functional team (Marketing, EDA, Risk, and Finance) will be a key component to success in the role

Required Skills:


Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with finance and business partners by influencing decisions with sound logic and analytics


Resilience, proactivity and strong ability to carefully plan for and execute for large deliverables


Highly motivated individual with desire to work on ambiguous projects and the ability to break down complex ideas into understandable and actionable messages


Solid understanding of financial statements, discounted equity cash flow valuation and card economics


Demonstrated excellent strategic thought leadership skills and creativity


Conceptual mindset that can be applied to driving new solutions


MBA or equivalent qualification
