About the Role:

The person in this role is responsible for the robust accounting and reporting of financial information across GB, Ireland, International and Head Office.

The role:

* Supports the General Accounting and Overheads Lead and the BU Finance Controller in the delivery of robust financial and management information

* Involves preparation of the periodic Management Information Packs (MIPs) and full year/half year statutory disclosure packs

* Responsible for producing quality balance sheet reconciliations with adequate supporting documentation

* Identifies opportunities for process improvement to improve efficiency and control

Key Responsibilities:

Periodic

* Prepare robust and accurate period-end accounts in line with the group timetable

* Post SAP journals

* Work with Finance Business Partners to:

* Offer financial control support and expertise

* Ensure correct reporting and understanding variances to budget, forecast and prior year

* Ensure periodic numbers reflect an up-to-date view of all income and costs

* Ensure MIPs and disclosure packs reflect the underlying financial records, comply with group requirements and provide insight to the business

* Produce insightful P&L, BS and CF analysis and reporting

* Complete balance sheet reconciliations ensuring balances are fully supported with adequate documentation

Cash

* Support senior management in the delivery of currency forecasts and short term cash forecasting

Business partnering

* Proactively support the Finance Business Partners with the budget and forecasting processes

* Work with Overheads Finance Analysts to ensure accruals accounting is complete

* Provide a key point of contact with AP/AR to support balance sheet control (i.e. bad debt provision, release of old GRIR balances etc.)

Audit and control

* Identify opportunities for process improvement to improve efficiency and control and drive change

* Support senior management and/or prepare and provide supporting material for external audit

* Proactively support RTR GPO and project initiatives, including user acceptance testing

* Review, update and maintain full procedure documents for the role

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

* Solid understanding of financial and accounting principles

* Strong analytical and interpretative skills

* Ability to identify issues, be proactive and subsequently problem solve through to resolution

* Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver quality output in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment

* Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written. Able to clearly articulate finance concepts to non-finance colleagues

* Essential Systems experience:

* Advanced Excel, MS Office, (SAP: Highly desirable)

* Desirable systems experience:

* BPC, SAP-BW
