Our client is first and foremost an organisation responsible for delivering government policy on disclosure and barring functions. They are a Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB) accountable to Parliament through the Secretary of State for the Home Office.
They play a vital role in safeguarding the most vulnerable in society through the provision of criminal record information enabling employers and voluntary organisations to make safer recruitment decisions and ultimately by barring those individuals considered to pose a significant risk in specific workforces.
An excellent opportunity has now arisen for a Head of Communications and Media to join them on a full time, permanent basis at their office in Liverpool.
Within this role, you will manage and oversee the communications functions, to ensure that priority objectives are achieved in line with communications strategies and plans aligned to strategic objectives.
You will build and maintain reputation, brand and influence with key internal and external audiences and stakeholders covering all key areas of activity. Responsible for providing advice and support to the Chief Executive and staff on matters related to communications and external relations, you will also provide advice and oversight on internal communications and employee engagement.
In order to be successful in this role, it is essential that you possess a relevant degree or qualification in Communications/PR (or equivalent) along with extensive experience in a senior Communications role, with experience of managing the media and a highly developed sense of political awareness.
With demonstrable experience of managing and implementing high profile communications, you will also be familiar with advising senior management in an organisation.
Although not essential, experience of working at a senior level in a high-profile government organisation would be an advantage.
