DESCRIPTION

Amazon’s Cross Channel Marketing Team is looking for a sharp, experienced, strategic marketing professional to lead the European creative strategy and planning function. With the focus weighted towards television ad campaigns and then radio, print, online video and out of home.
As an individual contributor you will lead marketing and advertising for Amazon in Europe responsible for working across the many disciplines of planning including research, brand strategy, communication strategy and digital strategy. We are looking for a strategic thinker who can help Amazon navigate the different European cultures and the constant evolution of consumer behavior across multiple European countries. This individual will have a key role in helping to drive the growth of Amazon through shaping creative strategies and briefs leading to breakthrough mass communication creatives across the portfolio of Amazon businesses including retail, devices and Prime. We are looking for somebody who has a proven track record of working on award-winning television ad campaigns and who is able to draw on an extensive library of frameworks in a data-led planning process.
A key task will be to formalize the role of the planning process within the Amazon marketing organization, which involves managing senior stakeholders and implementing organizational processes.

Responsibilities:
· Develop creative strategies by infusing your brand, communications, digital and analytical expertise into the briefing process
· Take ownership of the quality of the creative brief and briefing process and develop best in class ways of operating for the creative brief development and internal/external creative briefing process
· Partner closely with your Amazon counterparts in creative, inspiring fresh, original ideas that are rooted in culture, and in human and business insight
· Develop thought leadership pieces for Amazon marketing organization overall, particularly around our role in society and culture
· Partner with Global planning counterparts in developing global creative strategies as well as collaborate with them to help define Amazon brand architecture, brand purpose and identity
· Work closely with Global planning, brand and media teams to maintain alignment of local and global briefs and plans
· Partner with EU Consumer Insights in developing the strategic insights roadmap
· Work with advertising measurement tools, such as ad tracking/copy testing, to inform creative strategy adjustments
· Support subject matter marketing leads in refining integrated marketing strategies as part of the annual planning process
· Proactively plan to address new market segment opportunities and react to unforeseen challenges
· Build strong relationships with key stakeholders including country marketing heads and category leaders communicating creative strategies, cultural insights and evolving plans
· Support the development of campaign managers, subject matter leads and planners

The ideal candidate is a passionate strategist with broad and recent agency as well as client side experience in marketing strategy and creative planning. This person must have exceptional written and verbal communications skills, as well as the ability to influence others and strong cross-functional leadership. This person will have a track record of brilliant thinking that leads to unexpected, truly creative work and is able to show evidence of brilliant work across different categories. We are looking for somebody who can collate information, data and anecdotes from multiple sources and distilling it into game-changing insights in a data-led planning process. A crisp thinker and communicator with good judgement and backbone but an open ear and mind.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Extensive experience in creative strategy/planning and marketing strategy for consumer advertising and consumer marketing with consumer companies/products, including client side experience. Retail marketing experience is very relevant.
· Proven experience managing agency partners
· Proven experience in working with senior creatives agency side
· Bachelor's degree
· Able to work in a diverse team

· EU-wide experience advantageous
· Ability to think strategically and execute methodically.
· Excellent understanding of consumer brand advertising strategies especially in the digital and high-technology space.
· Ability to collate data from different sources, distilling it into actionable insights rooted in culture to change consumer behavior and generate results.
· Ability to draw on a vast library of data-led planning frameworks and processes
· Experience in establishing planning as a function within an organization
· Significant recent experience owning briefing process and creating strategies for successful large scale television, print, out of home, and other advertising/marketing campaigns
· High attention to detail including precise and effective customer communications and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
· Superior verbal and written communications skills and the ability to interact with senior management on a regular basis.
· Comfort and proficiency at leveraging precious resources, including marketing budgets and personnel resources.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is expected.
· History of teamwork and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done.
