Role
A senior management position responsible for marketing & sales across all of our businesses. We’re seeking an experienced sales & marketing professional who has proven success in growing a business, developing a brand & motivating a team

St Michael s Hotel & Spa is one of Cornwall’s leading 4 star hotels. It is stylish & contemporary, with a vibrant, friendly atmosphere which embraces the local community. It overlooks a sandy, blue flag beach, & a wonderful stretch of coastline. It is within walking distance of the vibrant, creative Falmouth recently voted 4th best place in the UK to live (Sunday Times, 2014)
The hotel has benefitted from a £5 million investment programme over the past 10 years & been awarded Cornwall Hotel of the Year in 2009 (Gold) & 2012 (Silver); Best Cornwall Spa in 2013; Gold in GBTS & Silver IIP.
St Michael’s has recently acquired the site of the former Falmouth Beach Hotel next door & is set to embark on a major investment programme to build a brand new luxury spa with associated facilities; re-invigorated health club; 30 new bedroom suites & c 55 apartments.
This is a very exciting time to join & lead the sales & marketing function at St Michaels Hotel & Spa through its next phase of expansion

Role Scope & General Purpose
To lead the Sales & Marketing team, realising optimum performance & revenue for the Hotel & all of its associated businesses throughout the year
To maximise all departmental revenue streams as profitably as possible for the short, medium & long term
To be responsible for developing our business & brand reputation
A senior manager within the business, with wider management & leadership responsibilities across the whole business

Key Elements
Maximising TREVPAR (Total Revenue Per Available Room), optimising the sales volume & mix to generate the highest room rate & the highest spend on property – particularly dinner, bar spend & spa treatments
Maximising the yield from our spa, health & fitness facilities by growing membership, improving retention & treatment/product spend
Maximising profitable conference & banqueting business
Expanding our customer base & improving retention across the business
Growing our reputation & brand image
Continuous development & maintenance of a high performing web site
Highly productive, cost effective marketing programme

Accommodation revenues
On site secondary spend
Conference & Banqueting revenues as a total financial target
Health Club membership numbers & revenue
Spa treatment revenue & retail sales
Commercial return on marketing investment
On line reputation management
Creativity & innovation in marketing strategies & maximising yield for St Michael’s as a whole & each of its businesses
Development of new revenue streams
Provision of accurate & insightful management reporting & forecasting
Management of all Sales & Marketing budgets effectively

Candidate Specification
Experience
You will probably have had a strong professional grounding in br& marketing, together with a thorough knowledge of digital marketing. You will also have held sales responsibilities & achieved proven success in growing sales revenue & profitability.
You will need to have experience of successfully managing, developing & motivating a sales & marketing team
Ideally, you will have had experience in the leisure/ hospitality sector. Managing a reservations team / call centre will be advantageous. Experience of yield/ revenue management would also be very valuable.
You will probably be a graduate with a sharp brain & be a very quick learner.
