A global, big-hitting legal firm is looking for a commercial and ambitious individual with a proven track record in a similar professional services environment, who is driven to work in a high performance business development team where commercial insight, strong personal relationships and achieving tangible results are valued and recognised.
The key function of the Practice Manager will be to have an oversight of, and coordinate, the activities of the India Group, with a view to encouraging collaboration and integration, and assisting the India Group Chair and India Group partners to deliver on the firm's strategic India objectives The role holder will sit in London, but the role is much wider than that, and you will be required to support members of the India Group around the world. The successful applicant will be classed as a member of the senior India Group support team and will be required to work closely with both the business development and professional support lawyer teams. The India Group seeks to be collaborative and coordinate its activities across a number of offices, mainly London, Hong Kong and Singapore, as well as providing a truly cross-practice offering including banking, litigation, corporate and ICM. Reporting directly to the India Group Chair, who is a dedicated partner, and the wider India Group partners and counsel, you will lead on the day-to-day management and business development for the India practice and will need to promote and reinforce the firm's efforts in India. Key responsibilities will include working with partners on their strategic business development plans and client development plans; managing relationships with the firm's local counsel firms; assisting on strategic India-related pitches and contributing product and market insight into cross-practice and cross-border pitches; supporting partners in preparation for client visits; coordinating PR and marketing support for profile raising activities; and maintaining India-focused marketing collateral.
The role requires both a strategic perspective and a hands-on approach to practice management, with a willingness to turn one's hand to a variety of different tasks. Flexibility, as well as being adept at achieving results through collaboration and influence, will be essential to success. The Practice Manager will have experience of either a similar practice development or business development role within a professional services organisation, preferably legal, where the individual will have worked frequently with Partners. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and interpersonal and influencing skills will be necessary in order to facilitate collaborative working across a mix of practice groups, seniorities, sectors and geographies. In addition you will be professional, proactive, creative and good humoured, with an enthusiastic approach to work and interactions and have the ability to work to deadlines, juggle multiple projects to deliver under pressure.
