We have a number of exciting opportunities that have arisen for Lending Consultants (Underwriting) to join the growing underwriting team in Milton Keynes on an initial 12 month fixed term contract basis.

As a Lending Consultant you will be responsible for making decisions on complex applications. Working as part of a large team of underwriters, you will analyse financial data and information in order to make lending decisions on applications from a wide variety of Santander customers.

As a Lending Consultant, your main responsibilities will be:

* Responding to application referrals, including appeals, ensuring that appropriate decisions are made within authority levels, seeking advice from more senior colleagues as appropriate

* Evaluating high risk transactions by making necessary investigations, making recommendations on suitable courses of action as appropriate

* Providing information and guidance on relevant products, policies and procedures to the retail network and other internal groups, enabling them to effect transactions appropriately

* Responding to queries from customers on a range of complex topics relating to lending decisions, escalating where required and ensuring customer service is maintained whilst the company’s interests are protected

* Maintaining performance against service standards (e.g. daily output and quality sampling) to ensure customers receive efficient and accurate decisions

* Ensuring that existing processes and procedures are adequately documented, making relevant recommendations if improvements are identified

Minimum skills and experience required:

* Must be able to demonstrate experience or knowledge of underwriting

* Proven customer service skills; must have excellent communication skills both face to face, written and over the phone

* Excellent attention to detail

* Strong numerical skills
