Marketing and Communications Manager – £33,000 p/a + Benefits – Chichester, UK

The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Marketing and Communications Manager who will enjoy working in this exciting and complex environment. The position is permanent and full time, though we could consider a part time option of 0.8FTE for the right person. If you have excellent people skills, the confidence to innovate and are a self-starter with a successful record of delivering high quality marketing and communications that achieve results, we would love to hear from you!

The key responsibilities of a Marketing and Communications Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and delivering a creative and overarching marketing and communications strategy that will engage a wide range of audiences in support of our strategic objectives
  • Creating and delivering tactical communications plans to support the individual objectives of teams e.g. our Visitors, Liturgy and Music, Learning and Engagement or Fundraising teams
  • Ensuring production of high quality and engaging marketing and communications material, in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external providers, that shares the Cathedral’s stories and supports its identity and values in an appropriate manner
  • Developing and delivering a digital strategy in collaboration with internal stakeholders that will significantly enhance our digital reach
  • Generating visitors to the Cathedral and its events, maximizing engagement and income generated from relevant activities including café, shop and events

The key skills and qualities of a Marketing and Communications Manager:

  • Demonstrable record of achievement possibly in a high-profile voluntary/public organisation
  • Extensive experience of raising the profile and reach of an organisation through the development of effective marketing and communications strategies including PR and digital
  • Strong leadership and team working skills, able to work collaboratively and creatively with, and to engage, a variety of stakeholders to ensure that strategic goals are achieved
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with evidence of building and managing effective relationships with appropriate stakeholders including key members of the media
  • Strong organisational ability, and can maintain high productivity whilst managing often competing demands; and manage a limited budget effectively
  • A desire to understand and engage with the Cathedral’s Christian mission and comfort in promoting its role as a living church

An understanding of GDPR; knowledge or experience in managing design functions and/or supporting commercial and fundraising functions; and any other relevant qualifications e.g. Chartered Institute of Marketing is highly desirable.
