IGEM, based in Kegworth, is a professional engineering institution supporting gas professionals in the UK and overseas. We are all about professional excellence, which is what makes us such a great place to work. Currently, we’re looking for an ambitious Marketing Assistant with a passion for producing stellar content, excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects at once.

About the role:

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Supporting the marketing and communications team in the planning, preparation and delivery of our marketing activities

  • Writing copy and managing the production of marketing communications materials including e-newsletters, e-shots, brochures, leaflets, social posts, presentations, etc.

  • Ensuring the website is up-to-date and uploading new content

  • Media monitoring

  • Writing articles and reviewing IGEM publications with the guidance of the Marketing Manager

  • Preparing and distributing regular press releases for trade press

  • Identifying and placing advertising via external channels

  • Coordinating IGEM’s attendance at gas/energy sector events

  • Administrative duties such as competitor monitoring, data gathering and insight analysis

This is an all-round marketing position that will allow the successful candidate to gain experience in digital, traditional and social media marketing.

About you:

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to take a step up from an internship, graduation or someone with experience in a similar role with transferable skills.

You’ll be a team player with bags of creativity and, most importantly, a natural flair for writing.

Skills required:

  • Marketing, English or Journalism degree (or similar) would be advantageous

  • Excellent command of written English with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • The ability to turn complex technical material into engaging content

  • Strong understanding of online marketing and its role within the marketing mix

  • The ability to work under your own initiative and as part of a team

  • PC literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Hootsuite (or similar).

  • Strong project management skills

  • The ability to work to tight deadlines and within tight budgets

  • Knowledge of Mailchimp, Meltwater and CRM/CMS systems desirable.
