JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Reports to: The post holder will report to the Senior Master.

 

Role Purpose

 

The Marketing and Communications Manager will be part of a small team which oversees all aspects of the School’s marketing, branding, design, advertising and communications.  There will be the opportunity to contribute to the strategy for the internal and external marketing of the Royal Grammar School.  This will include some regular daily and weekly tasks as well as stand-alone projects to further strengthen the online and offline brand and reputation of the School.

 

Overall Role Objectives

 

·        To be responsible for developing dynamic, relevant and accurate content for use on the school website, social media channels and inclusion in regular newsletters.

·        To take an active role in consolidating and developing the School’s social media and on-line presence.

·        To update the website as required in relation to the job section in liaison with the Headmaster’s PA and HR Manager; managing the Box Office; uploading documentation etc.

·        To produce adverts for the School in line with the stated branding, for jobs, Open Days, school events etc.

·        To process the external communications which includes formatting proof-checking and applying house style to the weekly parental communications; to produce and process online responses; to distribute The Bulletin and The Register, and other publications, as necessary.

·        To undertake stand-alone projects, such as a critical holistic overview of the School’s current marketing and branding profile in the context of other schools and institutions.

·        To co-ordinate the photography of school events and the school community, including annual student and staff photographs.

·        To oversee the quality of all internal displays and ensure the aesthetic of the School matches the external rhetoric; this includes the electronic communications screens.

·        To design, or oversee the design of, internal promotional material, such as posters for events; programmes; tickets etc.

·        To provide support as required on an ad hoc basis for the Senior Master who oversees Admissions, Communications, Marketing and school events.

·        To develop the marketing and branding of RGS Guildford International, which sets up and liaises with a small number of RGS schools overseas.

·        To develop the marketing and branding of the new RGS lettings business.

·        To support colleagues in planning for events ensuring that the best possible image is presented to parents and members of the pubic.

To be educated to degree level and possess a marketing qualification.

 

Knowledge & Experience

To have significant experience of marketing, social media and advertising either in education or in business, and to be able to have strategic input.

 

Possess a strong knowledge of MS software including Sharepoint, Word, Excel and  Outlook.

To have an awareness of development in marketing techniques and technologies.

 

An awareness and understanding of design packages or software (such as InDesign).

Key Skills

To have the ability to prioritise the workload and work in an organised manner without close supervision.

 

To be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

 

To have the highest level of communication skills both written and verbal in order to deal with a wide variety of stakeholders.

 

The ability to manage multiple projects at one time.

 

Positive and confident attitude combined with an adaptable and flexible approach.

 

Other attributes

Proven ability to work in a small team and make a positive contribution personally and professionally.

To be a member of the chartered Institute of Marketing.

 

 

 

 

 

WORKING FOR THE RGS & LANESBOROUGH

 

 

Hours of Work

8.30am – 4.30pm,

Remuneration

Up to £40,000 dependent on experience

Working arrangements

Full time.  This is a year round role although there may be some flexibility of hours and holidays for the right candidate. 

Annual Leave

 

28 days leave plus bank holidays to be taken during school holidays.  In addition the school will close between Christmas and New year for approximately 3 extra days leave.

Private Healthcare Scheme

 

Private medical cover is available for all staff.  This is paid for by the school, but is a taxable benefit so there is an indirect cost to the individual. 

Pension Schemes for all staff

 

All support staff are automatically enrolled into the company pension scheme.  The level of contribution by the individual is matched by the school up to 4%.  If the individual contributes 5% the school will contribute 10%.

Commuting loan

 

Interest-free loans are available for rail season ticket holders.

Charitable Payroll Giving Scheme

 

The scheme enables employees to donate regularly from their gross pay to charities of their choice.
