Modelling Analyst

Location:
Skipton Principle Office, The Bailey
Skipton, North Yorkshire, BD23 1AP
United Kingdom

Hours of Work: 35 hours Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

Salary: £28,500 - £30,000 dependent on experience

Job Introduction

This is an excellent opportunity for a statistical model developer to join our vibrant Modelling Team, developing and maintaining risk models. Risk models are used to support key decisions and processes across the Society in relation to areas such as mortgage approvals, capital and impairment requirements and forecasting.

You will work on short term investigative pieces of research and longer term strategic model builds. This opportunity is perfect for a creative, self-motivated individual with excellent communication and analytical skills.

Main Responsibilities

This role provides the opportunity to work on key model development projects. You will be exposed to a wide range of stakeholders from across the business, helping you learn and develop your skills and knowledge. You will have exposure to an assortment of models within the team and you will be given room to use your creative flare to experiment and discover the optimal modelled solution.

Through involvement in the design, development, implementation and monitoring of predictive models you will require the ability to understand data and its application to the wider business. Technical information will need to be documented and explained to a range of audiences, so the ability to describe complex information in a non-technical manner is key.

You will work closely with key stakeholders such as Credit Risk, Finance, Capital and Regulatory Reporting and Data and Information Services on areas such as regulatory capital, impairment, forecasting and application scorecards.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is highly numerate with a natural technical and analytical way of thinking, along with excellent problem solving skills. You will be highly motivated and capable of working on a combination of different activities as well as being an effective communicator at all levels, being willing to grow and develop with the role.

Previous experience in creating and maintaining technical documentation and reports would be highly beneficial along with knowledge of SAS, SQL and Excel. If you have exposure to R and Python this would also be an advantage.

Although experience would be ideal in this role, it would also suit a graduate in a maths, statistical or data sciences based degree.
