Reporting to the Manager, Product Management, you will own the product planning stage of the product life-cycle working closely with Epson's head office in Japan. With a segmented approach, the Product Manager will build a comprehensive knowledge of the business print, laser and scan market place and customer values for both existing and new product segments in order to drive future product planning to grow the business.

This role is based at our offices at Westside, Hemel Hempstead and will involve some European travel (2/3 days per month.)

Key responsibilities:

  • Ownership of the day to day product category and volume achievement of the designated products
  • Go-to expert for price/features of our own and key competitors' products. Ownership of the products' sales performance and the voice of the customer
  • Manage all aspects of the product lifecycle, including launch preparation, ensuring all documentation and assets are in place, stock management and end of life phase out, etc
  • Have a good knowledge and understanding of key Epson technologies and those of competitors. In addition the Product Manager should have an understanding of key technologies in the IT market and what are the future tendencies
  • Track the price/features/value propositions of key competitors with a segmented approach working with other stakeholders and customers as required. Use this information and technology developments as inputs to plan future product (s)
  • In conjunction with Seiko Epson Corporation, from the product's differentiation identify the Customer Value (benefits) of the product to be launched
  • Working with the Market Research team, use external and internal data sources to build the correct segmented market sizing and trend view for business and product planning
  • Working with teams and stakeholders across the business, gain an insight and understanding of the customer profile for the allocated products. The understanding will include the market segment and resulting 'customer value' to ensure a correct understanding of the customer requirements
  • Assist the Manager, Product Management to propose future Volume/Revenue/Profit plans based on knowledge of market and group of products
  • In conjunction with Seiko Epson Corporation, from the product's differentiation identify the Customer Value (benefits) of the product to be launched

Key skills and experience required to perform this role:

  • Graduate level education in a technology or marketing background
  • Proven Product Management experience ideally gained from the business imaging (print/laser/scan) product portfolio/IT sector with a technical focus
  • Good communication skills and the ability to network
  • Numerate with attention to detail
  • Analytic and questioning manner with the ability to make sense of data
  • Very good Excel knowledge and general IT knowledge (PC and Mobile OS's, Network)
  • Speaking more than one European language will be valued
