Our client:

Our Client is based in Northamptonshire and looking for a skilled editor, who will be responsible for managing a wide range of books across the publishing list. The production editor will support the head of publishing with the ongoing creation of the the publishing program, including new product development and managing the list to ensure quality and timely delivery.

This is a role that works across global publishing markets with high-profile brands and is suited to an experienced editor looking to further develop their skillset.

The Job:

  • Work with the head of publishing on all tasks relating to the creation of the publishing programme, working to a clear strategy.
  • Create detailed specification briefs and liaise with production department
  • Mentor and guide other members of the publishing and production teams.
  • Assist in coordinating production of new books in line with editorial and creative briefs
  • Ensure the publishing teams are on track with publishing schedules and business KPIs.
  • Actively research market trends and identify any gaps in the publishing market for new products.
  • Project manage specific projects in partnership with publishers, making sure key milestones are kept to and final files are supplied on time.
  • Research, write, copy edit and proofread and give final approval on a wide range of books across a range of formats.
  • Liaise with and coordinate 3rd-party contributors, including; packagers, illustrators, authors, licensors and other freelance agents.
  • Problem-solve within the team and escalate issues appropriately to ensure publishing deadlines are achieved.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Worked for a Publisher - within the Publishing or Production departments.
  • Good understanding of different formats.
  • Project Management.
  • Team schedules and KPI management.
  • An excellent communicator comfortable working with a friendly in-house team and a range of external suppliers and contributors.
    Excellent copy editing and proofreading skills.
  • The ability to prioritise and manage competing deadlines and support other team members in doing the same.
  • People management skills.
  • Pro-active problem-solving skills.
