Becoming a Programme Communications Lead with DCC Smart Metering:

Based in our London Office, the Communications Lead will work closely with the Switching Programme’s Director, Deputy Director and Programme Managers, the focus of this role is the management of the Switching Programme’s external and internal key communications. The role will develop and maintain the strategic objective for communication activities in the programme. A critical aspect of the role is liaising and collaborating closely with communications colleagues in DCC Corporate Affairs.

You will lay a solid foundation of awareness and understanding for an intensive period of delivery over the next few months and thereafter will be at the heart of the programme’s transition to a more proactive stance focused on innovation. This is a core role within Switching, with direct links with the programme director and Ofgem

What you will do:

Plan and execute a long-term programme of stakeholder engagement.

*

Develop communications handling plans and strategies to cover key phases.

*

Develop a close relationship with counterparts in Ofgem

*

Create and maintain a stakeholder dashboard to inform senior directors of current audience views and feedback. Gather useful audience intelligence and share it with senior colleagues to inform strategy and planning.

*

Build close relationships with senior figures within DCC and externally among key influencers and opinion formers.

*

Advise senior spokespeople, including the Programme Director and Deputy Director, on our engagement plans.

*

Write or commission necessary deliverables to support engagement, such as speeches, presentations, and occasional newsletters. Participate in decision-making over what content or collateral is required by stakeholders.

*

Event management, including managing platform speaking appearances and DCC attendance at external events.

*

Champion the Salesforce CRM tool and foster its use to enable sharing of stakeholder intelligence leading to more effective meetings.

*

Build a database of key stakeholder contacts enabling the DCC to communicate effectively with them in proactive or reactive scenarios.

*

Close collaboration with DCC colleagues managing external and internal communications, regulatory affairs and strategy, so that Corporate Affairs operates in an integrated way.

Close collaboration and co-ordination with our counterparts on the Switching Programme especially Ofgem, existing service providers, and our customers the energy companies, ensuring alignment of core messages and handling

Your experience and skills will include:

Proven success in managing stakeholder engagement and communications within a B2B organisation or agency side.

*

Strong relationship-building and influencing skills.

*

Personal credibility and confidence, accustomed to offering counsel to senior leaders and willing to challenge appropriately.

*

Excellent organisational skills, accustomed to balancing multiple deadlines and priorities.

*

Results-focused, with a sound understanding of communication measurement, gathering/using data, and evaluation, matched by keenness to act on the results.

*

Capable of rapidly assimilating complex policy or technical detail and then explaining this clearly to lay audiences.

*

A thorough and methodical approach to stakeholder analysis and activity planning.

*

Superb written and oral communications skills.

*

Flexible; respond positively and quickly to unexpected developments.

*

High levels of personal initiative and a positive outlook.

*

Experience of working on a high profile, multi-channel communications campaign preferable

*

Ability to drive integration of contact outputs into CRM system to optimise data & relationship management.

30 million homes and small businesses in Great Britain are being offered gas and electricity smart meters by 2020.
