Overall Job Purpose

We’re looking to hire an experienced and enthusiastic QA Lead to join our Product Development team and help drive ongoing improvements in our development, automation and testing practices.

You’ll be an essential part of the product development team, with responsibility for the quality of newly developed software and system integration. The role will involve leading the company's testing function, improving on existing test strategies and ensuring rapid feedback is provided during our iterative development cycles. You will assess products and processes to identify areas of greatest risk and steer testing in order to reduce this risk. Potentially the role could also involve working with teams during our sprint cycles.

This is a role with career growth possibilities we want you to work with the newest technology, giving you the opportunity to continue developing your own personal skills and ability.

At Immediate we are keen to promote equality and diversity with all of our roles, and we are supportive of people’s work-life balance, as such, for this role we are happy to discuss flexible working options.

Accountabilities

The responsibilities of QA Lead are summarised to be:

* Lead existing QA team members in Bristol & London in all aspects of testing & automation
* Guide ongoing improvements to our practices by refining or defining in-house quality procedures – create a QA roadmap for tackling the big long-term issue of increasing regression testing, moving to more anticipatory rather than reactionary testing procedures.
* mentoring QA and dev roles on testability, tools use, dev & test best practices
* contine to develop our test strategy for the company
* defining and helping implement the automation strategy for our products, recommending frameworks, procedures and selection/prioritization guidelines
* creating and reviewing test specifications and schedules with the rest of the product development team
* planning and organizing testing throughout the release cycle
* Guide the tracking and managing defects, working with the development team to identify the root cause, resolve issues, and get processes in place that promote defect prevention
* research and evaluate tools and technologies relevant to the QA function, with the end goal of continually increasing and improving test automation
* managing test environments (AWS, EC2)

Knowledge, Experience & Competencies

Expected skills and experiences:

* We have a strong team-working ethos and therefore excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment are essential.
* ability to take the point of view of the end user, a strong desire for quality and an attention to detail, plus good judgment skills to assess where to focus testing efforts when time is limited.
* Extensive experience of test planning and implementation in an agile environment, ideally in small multi-disciplinary teams with tight deadlines.
* Proven ability to design new strategies to solve complex testing problems.
* Solid understanding of test automation best practices and exposure to several frameworks across disparate projects.
* Experience in both creating/executing manual test scripts and setting up automated testing frameworks, ideally with knowledge of specifically testing web-based applications. Some programming or scripting experience is required.
* Experience of Agile development environment, TDD, Unit Testing, Integration Testing and good understanding of databases and an excellent understanding of software development life cycles.
* A good degree in a technical discipline or equivalent commercial experience
* Excellent logical analysis skills and problem solving ability.
