What the role involves?
From day one you will oversee high-profile accounts, ranging from Central Government departments through to local authorities and NGOs, while leading a team of researchers to manage research projects and deliver insights that make a real difference to public policy. Projects will be wide-ranging, encompassing both ad hoc and continuous studies, requiring versatility and the ability to distil the meaning behind the numbers to give actionable and meaningful recommendations to both research and non-research audiences.
What will you need?
Probably at around Research Manager-level, you should have gained some agency experience and be able to draw on a wide range of quantitative methodologies and tailor your approach to each unique client problem. A strong quantitative grounding is therefore essential, while any exposure to qualitative research would also be advantageous. You should also be an outstanding presenter and be able to command the attention of and advise a diverse client base.
