Following a recently completed merger, this data centric agency is looking to further enhance its Data function with the appointment of a Senior Data Engineer.
You will be working on the agency's proprietary data platform solution. It's their key USP, and something which turns traditional data insight services delivered by rival agencies/consultancies on its head.
They recognised circa 85% of all consumer firms are challenged by similar business and commercial challenges. Which, in order to help solve, often turn to agencies or consultancies who then carry out very traditional process led discovery. Asking the same questions only to arrive at the same types of recommendations and solutions.
These solutions often involved tweaks and changes which deliver small incremental improvements, but fundamentally don't change the game.
They don't follow this path. Instead they're able to show clients what they don't know, and really should, about their customers. Frequently leading to more radical change for businesses, not simple tweaks. Demonstrating not only a step-change, but game change for most who implement their recommendations.
So confident in their solution they don't sell long retainers, instead they prove significant benefit within just 12 weeks of engagement - which in turn ends up establishes them as agency of choice and has resulted in long-term engagements as they continue to deliver radical step-changes across additional areas of the client's business!
This role is critical to their continued success, as you will be handling the agency's key asset - their data insight platform. Moving data from the various client platforms into the agency's Cloud based insight engine using ETL processes.
Deciding what solution is best to deploy for each client. Taking account of, and handling, any data challenges which can take many forms, including competitor sensitivity, protection of IP and format/quality issues.
Then taking the data through a matching process to ensure single customer view, integrity and correct format. Successfully mapping that data into the platform and ensuring the feeds push through correctly.
You will mainly be working on back-end capabilities and ensuring the platform is functioning as needed - moving from staging layer to application of data science and segmentations, productising back to the platform and the build of the analytics and presentation layer (e.g. data cubes).
They principally use the Microsoft Stack, including Azure and AWS. Key technical coding skills needed are SQL. This role will be hands on, so needs well polished coding skills. The future development of this role will likely extend into management as the agency grows. The plan is to look to appoint a couple of junior data engineers, allowing this role to provide technical and strategic leadership - this will based on agency success and growth plans being realised.

Salary: £60,000 to £70,000 base
