Senior European Insight & Innovation Planner – Global FMCG
c.£70K-80K + Car Allowance, Benefits & Bonus Package

Exceptional candidate needed for this rare and truly challenging strategic insight & planning role with a remit to guide this global leader and innovator in the drinks industry into the next generation of growth opportunities.  With responsibility for seeking out early innovation start points based on deep consumer, cultural and category insight, your challenge will be to shape insight into compelling brand concepts, and then influence key stakeholders across the business in understanding opportunity areas and how they can be leveraged to drive real, incremental growth.

Using cutting edge qual & quant techniques to identify and verify consumer trends, culture, issues and behaviour, you will ensure the innovation pipeline is grounded in clear, rigorous, creative and commercial thinking, taking into account differences in markets across Europe.  Ideally, you will have some understanding of the nuances and complexities of consumer behaviour in the on and off trade; identifying relevant opportunity areas and development/launch priorities in what is a very dynamic, fast-paced operating culture.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Proactively defining opportunities for growth to enable the creation and execution of a robust innovation pipeline by unleashing deep consumer and cultural insights.
  • Creating breakthrough insight using cutting edge consumer, shopper and cultural understanding techniques from large-scale quant to ethnographic, consumer immersions and semiotics.
  • Working with colleagues across Europe providing thought leadership in all things related to innovation success with objective opinions and proposed action plans.
  • Leading the creation and application of a world class innovation planning toolkit including primary and secondary research, ad-hoc and continuous best practice, from methodology selection to vendor management and actionable and inspiring presentation of findings.

Skills Checklist

Exceptional consumer insight & research skills are essential for this demanding role with a minimum 10 years’ experience working as an insight professional or consumer planner/consultant with a significant focus on Innovation and Ideation.  Your skills will also include:

  • A proven record of developing breakthrough innovation strategy, and managing its execution through a complex matrix environment.
  • Insatiable curiosity for understanding consumers and shoppers and the world they exist in, with evidence in applying this to drive brand and business growth.
  • Strong functional research skills along with an innovative mindset to find ever better ways of getting cultural, consumer and shopper input.
  • The ability to influence across senior levels in the Innovation, Marketing and Commercial communities.
  • Resilience combined with emotional intelligence to build collaborative and powerful relationships.
  • Tenacity and drive with the courage and willingness to take a stand behind what is right for each brand and innovation initiative.
