Job description

Job Context

The Technology & Operations (T&O) Business Consulting team is responsible for the insight, analysis and forecasting of Company CAPEX spend of c £450m pa and OPEX spend of c £400m pa across several business areas including Business Transformation. The T&O area of the business that we support is undertaking significant change presently and consequently making it an interesting, exciting and challenging place to work.

The FP&A Senior Analyst role is pivotal in bringing the separate business areas together into a single joined up view of T&O and is responsible for the standardised reporting, commentary and the first level of analysis. Building relationships with the Central Planning Finance team is crucial as this role is the first point of contact for any requests relating to Actual reporting, Budget / Forecasting and 5 Year strategic planning. The FP&A Senior Analyst is responsible for ensuring that the team delivers on time and to the quality required.

The role is also responsible for managing the Business Transformation directorate cost centre.

Roles & Responsibilities

Key activities will include;

* Month end reporting

* Budget / Forecasting

* 5 Year Planning

* Budget-owner/stakeholder engagement

Dependent on experience, there will be opportunities to work on ad hoc projects and process consolidation/improvements.

Building Capability

Develops personal capabilities using existing formal and informal training opportunities, while also coaching others as required.

Client & Customer Management (Internal)

Supports small internal customers to ensure their needs are met and/or helps senior colleagues manage client relationships.

Data Collection & Analysis

Conducts research using primary data sources and selects relevant information to enable analysis of key themes and trends.

Data Management

Delivers prescribed outcomes by working as directed within established data management systems and procedures.

Financial Management & Control

Delivers prescribed outcomes for a designated area of financial control by working within established systems.

Internal Communications

Executes a communications plan by working within established internal communication systems and procedures.

Policy Development & Implementation

Provides input into the development of procedures for an area within the organization, then monitors the implementation of those procedures.

Technical Skills

Costing and Budgeting

Uses comprehensive knowledge and skills to work independently on costing, budgeting and finance tasks while providing guidance and training to others.

Compliance

Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on achieving full compliance with applicable rules and regulations in management and/or operations.

Assessment

Works with guidance (but not constant supervision) to analyze data from multiple sources to draw appropriate conclusions and make suitable recommendations.

Data Management

Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on acquiring, organizing, protecting and processing data to fulfill business objectives.

Planning and Organizing

Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on planning, organizing, prioritizing and overseeing activities to efficiently meet business objectives.

Policy and procedures

Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on developing, monitoring, interpreting and understanding policies and procedures, while making sure they match organizational strategies and objectives.

Policy and Regulation

Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on interpreting and applying knowledge of laws, regulations and policies in area of expertise.

Verbal Communication

Uses clear and effective verbal communications skills without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on expressing ideas, requesting actions and formulating plans or policies.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Type of person we are looking for:

* ACA, ACCA or CIMA Qualified or Finalist

* Excellent MS Excel skills

* Able to prioritise and deliver high quality/accurate/timely reporting

* Experience of interfacing with commercial teams

* Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills

* Ability to operate in a demand led, rapid change environment
