The Marketing, Media and Intellectual Property Legal (MMI) team is the legal engine room supporting Three’s fast moving Marketing and Digital functions. The MMI team works closely to support Three’s Digital team which is on a journey of unprecedented growth, investment and diversification, powered by digital platforms, disruptive propositions and customer data. Three is developing how we partner with customers and how we manage their data to deliver a range of digital products and commercial opportunities, ranging from offers and rewards, to targeted advertising, to carrier billing and many more besides. We also support the Marketing and Brand teams, bringing compelling propositions and challenging advertising to the market. The MMI team manages contractual relations with a range of partners, agencies and suppliers. These include marketing and PR agencies, co-marketing partners (such as Go-Binge partners), providers of new applications and services, customer data service providers and device suppliers. We also support the delivery of advertising campaigns and marketing propositions, keep our competitors’ advertising honest, manage the intellectual property portfolio and work closely with the new Digital function to deliver cutting-edge products.

We're looking for a talented, versatile and experienced Senior Lawyer to work on the broad range of commercial Marketing and Digital deals the team supports. You’ll need to be comfortable crunching data protection issues with a global marketing platform, working on commercial terms with a video streaming channel or agreeing indemnities with a cool creative marketing agency. This is a great opportunity to drive new deals in the rapidly developing world of digital mobile, building strong relationships both within Three and across the industry. You’ll work on ground-breaking customer propositions, developing best practice and new ways of tackling customer challenges.

Reporting to the Head of Legal: Marketing, Media & Intellectual Property you’ll be happy to work independently, including on complex projects. You’ll need the ability to view situations from a commercial or wider business perspective (analysing risks and opportunities), consider the deal in the context of the business strategy and deliver the best possible outcomes for Three in a timely manner. You will be comfortable presenting to and influencing senior leadership and you’ll become an influential part of Three’s business.

Job Context

This role reports to the Head of Legal: Marketing, Media & IP and is responsible for the provision of legal support to the Marketing and Digital functions and deal with all matters arising from those areas such as marketing agency agreements and clearance work as well as digital customer propositions such as Wuntu. You will be expected to work independently (including on complex projects) with little or no supervision. You will have the ability to view situations from a commercial or wider business perspective (analysing risks and opportunities) and deliver the best possible outcomes for Three in a timely manner. You will be expected to present to and influence senior leadership.

Roles & Responsibilities

To provide leading subject matter legal expertise on specific areas facing Three. Utilising extensive industry knowledge and technical capability in order to drive innovative compliance solutions within Three. Working cross functionally with a variety of stakeholders at all levels of the business to enable the achievement of business outcomes. Mentoring legal counsel on areas of law as well as softer skills enabling them to develop the right level of subject matter expertise to further support the future growth of the business.

Responsibilities

Project Management

Manages and delivers required outcomes for a portfolio of major projects in order to support the overall project management strategy.

Policy Development & Implementation

Participates in developing policies for area of responsibility, creating underlying procedures and monitoring their implementation within the organization.

Performance Management

Helps manage the performance of direct reports by working within performance management systems.

Legal

Manages the provision of a strategic legal service element within the organization.

Leadership and Direction

Develops and/or delivers a plan for a specific area of responsibility by managing others.

Document Preparation

Writes and edits materials for a variety of target populations, tailoring the tone and content to match the needs and expectations of each audience.

Client & Customer Management (Internal)

Manage relationships with key internal customers and act as their business partner, while typically using support teams to ensure client satisfaction.

Budgeting & Costing

Tracks budgets and brings variances to the attention of senior colleagues while working within established budgeting systems.
