Internet Matters is a not-for-profit, industry-led, online safety body - initiated by the government - and established by the UK’s 4 leading Internet Service Providers, Sky, BT, TalkTalk and Virgin Media. And most recently partnering with Google, BBC, Facebook and EE. Our role is to help parents keep children safe online.
By 2020 Internet Matters will be recognised as the trusted gold standard for children’s internet safety in the UK. We will empower all UK parents and carers to help their children benefit from digital technology smartly and safely.
We will do this by:
-Working with leading sector specialists to bring together the best advice and support tools for parents in one place
-Partnering with the biggest players in the UK digital industry with a common purpose to reach the maximum number of UK parents with the right advice at key moments
-Informing government thinking by providing a unified view of parents biggest concerns and reporting industry progress in addressing them.
The founding members support the organisation in raising awareness of the issue of children’s online safety and with the commitment of marketing Internet Matters through their own channels. A ‘Marketing Committee’ has been established across our partners to enable collaboration, tracking against KPI’s and sharing of ‘best practice’.
Internet Matters is a small organisation so the successful candidate will have exposure to all aspects of the marketing mix, from planning and campaign development to communications and evaluation. The Marketing Manager will report to the Marketing Controller and as well as having ownership for their own projects will support in the delivery of a range of Internet matters activity. The role also requires a great deal of collaboration with our partners, who are all leading UK brands
-Support the delivery of the annual campaign strategy, carefully managing the marketing budget to drive our KPI’s - reach & impact, executing across online and offline channels
-Collaboration with partners to maximise the impact and reach of the Internet Matters initiative, building strong working relationships across marketing, CSR, and PR
-Lead a range of tactical marketing activity agreed with Internet Matters members and supporters from planning through to execution and measurement
-Lead the development and provide ongoing management of an internal communication programme that can be deployed across Internet Matters partners and supporters
-Tracking and performance reporting across all Internet Matters marketing & PR activity & in-kind marketing from partners (weekly, monthly, annually)
-With the Marketing Controller and Digital Content Manger manage the planning process for Internet Matters team producing a detailed monthly rolling 6 month calendar of activity, along with budgets assigned to each activity
-Support the Marketing Controller and Digital Content Manager on marketing and digital projects from time to time and as directed
- Formal marketing qualification
-Detailed knowledge of marketing communications planning process
-Previous experience of communications planning
-Digital marketing experience
-Demonstrable experience activating marketing activity across a number of offline & online channels
-Proven ability to develop & execute
-Able to manage & influence internal & external stakeholders across a number of different levels.
-Experienced measuring marketing activity & performance
-Strong understanding of the media landscape
-Adaptable and able to work in a small start-up environment
-Self-motivator and hands-on approach
-Thrives on managing multiple projects simultaneously
-Professional and passionate attitude
-Good relationship and influencing skills
