Overall Job Purpose

Reporting into the Channel Director, this is an exciting opportunity to lead the marketing team at Sewing Quarter (SQ), the UK’s only TV Shopping Channel dedicated to sewing and quilting. Now in its 2nd year, Sewing Quarter has been a huge hit, quickly becoming highly respected within the industry and creating a very loyal customer base. Earlier this year SQ won the much coveted ‘Sewing Retailer of the Year’ title at the British Craft Awards. SQ is currently on air 5 hours a day (8am-1pm) through Freeview 73 and Sky 687 and also supported by an ecommerce website – javascript:void(0);. SQ is strategically important to Immediate Media and there is commitment to invest and develop the channel long term - the role of Senior Marketing Manager is critical to it’s on-going success.


* Key contributor to the management team on strategy and overall business performance
* Create detailed, comprehensive annual marketing plans with clear performance measures to drive awareness, engagement and conversion through customer acquisition and retention
* Work with the Sewing Portfolio editorial teams (based in Bristol) to maximise acquisition from their existing audience to Sewing Quarter
* Develop and implement an effective CRM approach which maximises frequency of purchase from existing customers
* Live and breathe the brand values and act as brand guardian at all times to ensure consistency of creative and messages throughout Sewing Quarter’s marketing communication channels. Clearly communicate these values to the rest of the business as and when needed
* Continuously develop a deep understanding of the Sewing Quarter customer base, both quantitatively and qualitatively, in a way that is actionable for the business
* Initiate and develop traffic generation campaigns across multiple channels (Social, SEO, PPC), analyse performance and make recommendations to optimise on-going campaigns
* Manage the marketing budgets and monitor the performance of all expenditure to ensure maximum ROI. Contribute to the budget process annually
* Organise and plan Sewing Quarter’s stand presence at consumer exhibitions (currently 4 per year)
* Manage a small team which consists of a Graphic Designer and Digital Content Manager

Knowledge, Experience & Competencies

* Experience of managing fast-growth brands across multiple channels
* Extensive digital marketing experience with a proven track record of success in creating high growth B2C markets
* Significant exposure to developing and managing SEO, SEM and social media campaigns
* A deep understanding of website analytics tools (Google Analytics, Omniture etc.) and data capture in general
* Demonstrate a clear understanding of brand management, creatively and from a business driver perspective
* Superb communication skills both written and verbally
* An ability to think both strategically and laterally to deliver business objects
* Accomplished business management skills - proactive approach to achieving team goals and a proven ability to think both strategically and laterally to deliver business objectives
* Excellent leadership skills. Confident team manager with experience of building a motivated, high-performing team that is well respected throughout the business
* Experience of the sewing, quilting or craft market is a plus
* Exposure to PR is a bonus
