Leeds Building Society is looking for a Senior Mortgage Underwriter - DIP to join our Decision in Principle Team. You will be based at our City Exchange Office in the heart of Leeds city centre. This is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract role.
What is the main purpose of the role?
The Senior Mortgage Underwriter – DIP will process referrals for new mortgage applications (which have not satisfied the system rules) from new and/or existing customers from all channels. You will follow the Society's Lending Criteria and Underwriter Guidance and demonstrate sound decision making, fully documenting the rationale for acceptance of cases outside normal criteria. The Senior Mortgage Underwriter – DIP will hold a mandate to approve loans up to £300k. You will also act as an escalation point for colleagues, dealing with more complex queries, complaints and providing support and guidance.
Do you have the essential skills and experience for this role?
* A knowledge mortgage lending systems and the processing requirements.
* Good PC skills in MS Word and Excel are required to produce MI reports and other correspondence.
* The role requires the job holder to undertake an accreditation of Mandate status through Internal Audit.
* Good organisational / time management skills and the ability to work under pressure, meeting deadlines and ensuring service standards are maintained.
* Good communication and motivational skills are essential to ensure objectives are achieved.
