Amazon.co.uk is seeking a highly intelligent, self-motivated, well-connected, and creative public relations professional who is passionate about books and authors to join our strategic communications team in London. This role will be responsible for managing proactive and reactive media relations in the UK and working with our teams across the EU to support Amazon’s books business, Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), and Amazon Publishing. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in corporate communications and media relations, as well as experience in the publishing industry. She/he should be a self-starter, strategic thinker, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, start-up culture. She/he will be responsible for building and executing a strategic communications plan to support Amazon’s KDP and Amazon Publishing businesses, telling stories through earned and owned media about authors reaching readers through Amazon, and helping manage communications issues related to Amazon’s books businesses. This will require creativity, high judgment, a bias for action, strong ownership, the ability to multitask, strong backbone, and a willingness to earn trust, innovate and deliver results.

The Senior PR Manager will report to the UK Director of Corporate Communications in London and work directly with the books, KDP and publishing business teams, authors, and the global books and publishing PR teams. She/he will manage agencies and freelancers for publicity work and will need to successfully manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time. This role is based in London and will require periodic travel.

Core Job responsibilities:
- Build strategic communications campaigns that drive proactive coverage for authors and Amazon’s UK publishing and books programs
- Act as PR business partner to several Amazon leadership teams
- Prioritize and manage reactive responses for incoming media inquiries
- Work closely with counterparts and others on the corporate communications team across the EU and US, building campaigns elsewhere in the EU as necessary
- Write press releases; pitch and secure top media, including print, broadcast and online outlets
- Build excellent relationships with key media
- Manage external PR firms and freelancers, and collaborate closely with editorial, marketing, and promotional teams in order to drive successful title launches and build author brand awareness
- Organize participation at international book festivals
- Collaborate with internal stakeholder teams in order to drive successful program launches
- Deliver strategic communications counsel to internal executives on both short and long term challenges and opportunities


- Bachelor’s degree
- 10+ years of PR experience
- Experience creating long-term, comprehensive communications campaigns that include both earned and owned media to reach multiple audiences
- Book industry/publishing experience


- Superior communication and presentation skills and a positive, can-do attitude
- High judgment, particularly in narrow time frames
- Ability to work with international business and PR teams
- Commitment and dedication to driving team goals
- Ability to drive progress and form cohesion amidst ambiguity
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholder teams and efficiently manage and problem solve any challenges that arise
- Ability to multitask and prioritize own workload
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
- Existing book media relationships
- Love of reading, Kindle and other reading innovations
