The toy and licensing industries are fast-paced, vibrant and ever-evolving markets and as such require trade journalists that not only have their finger on the pulse of the changing landscape of business and retail, but technology, product development and big brands, too.
We break the news that the industry needs to know; from the collapse and revival of Toys R Us, to mergers between some of the industry’s biggest players. You will build and maintain relationships with the biggest names in toys and licensing, dealing with the likes of Hasbro and Mattel alongside Universal, Activision, Disney and everyone in between in order to service these multi-billion dollar industries.
ToyNews and Licensing.biz prides itself on being market leaders in a highly competitive arena. We do not simply churn out press releases, but curate agenda-setting features and interviews while sourcing daily exclusive news stories that make us the voice of authority across these business sectors.
Reporting into the Editor, as Senior Staff Writer you will be responsible for sourcing and turning around exclusive, industry-leading news stories and maintaining the high quality of online and magazine content for which ToyNews and Licensing.biz are recognised. You will have an excellent interview technique with the ability to get in front of the industries’ key decision-makers and thought leaders. You will be able to work independently and present agenda-setting feature ideas and articles to weekly and daily content meetings, as well as represent the two brands at the numerous trade events the team attends annually.
Job Summary & Purpose
Working across both the toy and licensing industries, ToyNews and Licensing.biz provides the information needed by the industries’ key decision makers, influencers, manufacturers, designers and retailers.
As Senior Staff Writer you will work alongside and report into the Editor to provide leading news articles, analysis and informative features to keep the breadth of the two industries ahead in the ever-evolving world of the entertainment business.

You will be required to sub-edit content for print and online, so a keen eye for detail and fact-checking is a must.
