Specialist Solutions Architect - Digital Transformation (Big Data)

Why this role matters
To define and drive the technical strategy/leadership and roadmap for the Analytics and Insights platform in the Digital Transformation unit in TSO.
The role is to ensure the coherence and reuse across different CFU initiatives providing best technical solution choice and consultancy by bringing understanding of what new product/service capabilities can be enabled by emerging technologies. It is expected to pick up and deal with the architecture interventions when the issue span cross CFU and organisational boundaries.
Support the Chief Architect’s Office in implementing the goals’ of the CAO; in particular implementing Architecture Conformance Framework for the Analytics and Insights Platform.
Be a technology expert for the IT Systems related to the Analytics and Insights platform.
Make the right technical choices
Build and drive the Analytic and Insights Platform Pan-CFU roadmaps
Build and drive vendor roadmaps including upgrade strategies
Drive common solutions across the Analytics and Insights Platform for the benefit of BT and its customers.
What you'll be doing
Judging and setting the direction; make decisions on the technology choice for solutions in the Analytics and Insights domain; specifically related to.
* Marketing systems
* Business Decision Engines
* Business Intelligence systems

* Advanced analytics
To ensure the Digital Transformation roadmaps in these areas meet the needs of the current and evolving business needs by working with the delivery directors and platform architects to agree mid-term plans to implement a common and beneficial range of solutions to all parts of BT and its customers.
Support the simplification agenda by driving coherence and reuse of common technologies across CFU initiatives; recommends and makes judgement on the technology choices to be made by the portfolios.
Support the Architecture Conformance Framework for all the Analytics and Insights Platform unit architectural decisions.
Provide guidance to the Platform Architects and SDK/EDM leads maintaining architecture conformance.
Enable improved service reliability by consulting on system outages root cause analysis and driving the required changes to prevent such occurrences.
Enable ITM Delivery Directors to meet their delivery commitments on time and in budget through simple and innovative solutions.
Collaborate with other domains (Service Management & OSS) for end to end architecture.
Spot, raise & manage architecture interventions from CAO – fixing issues spanning LoBs and organisational boundaries providing quick fix as well as well-defined long term strategic fix.
Highlight key issues or decisions required in a straightforward and open manner, regardless of how unpopular the message might be. For example, if the consequence of a particular proposal is that one part of the business is a loser in an otherwise overall gain for BT, then be honest and up-front about it, ensuring that this is done with respect for those people impacted.
