The Business Accountant is part of the Global Circulation finance team supporting the accounting and reporting for the Global Digital circulation and EMEA region. The Business Accountant provides specific support to the Finance Manager and our finance business partners through supporting the immediate finance team in meeting all group deadlines, monthly, quarterly and annually and internal deadlines prescribed. You will be part of a team of 8. The tasks in the role include:

* Delivering the monthly financial accounting side of:
* Global digital volumes and revenues
* Digital Multi User Licenses business
* Second Rights and Syndication business
* EMEA central overheads

* Dealing with 3rd party Digital vendors on payments reconciliation
* Taking a lead on Peoplesoft reporting for the circulation business
* Global Circulation accounting member of the Global circulation Dashboard team

This pisition is a fixed-term maternity cover contract.

Accountabilities

How you will contribute:

Month-end accounting

Global digital and circulation business accounting

* Accounting for Global digital third party volumes and revenues
* Work with business managers to understand and post accruals for Digital central marketing teams
* Provide finance manager with variance analysis for Digital revenues and costs for month end pack
* Provide supplementary information to Group finance team for Digital revenues
* Work with project team on Circulation Dashboard implementation

EMEA Regional business accounting

* Second rights and Syndication
* Subscription marketing
* EMEA Central overheads

Internal control

* Ensures data integrity and that financial reporting free of material misstatements.
* Developed relationships with business managers and FP&A teams to ensure all business events are appropriately reflected in the financial statements.
* Improve efficiency of the month end process
* Ensure all balance sheet accounts assigned are clean and reconciled monthly with legitimate backed up balances.
* Provide information and respond to queries for the annual external audit

Financial business support

* Liaise with Financial Planning and Analysis teams to enable smooth flow of delivering monthly forecasts
* Assist in systems related initiatives and ad-hoc projects as required

Experience, skills and professional attributes

The desirable skills for this role include:

* Proven Management accounting experience is desirable
* Experience working within the publishing industry preferable but not essential

* Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel (Advanced Excel is ideal)
* The ability to learn or experience in the use of Peoplesoft Financials

* Analytical and problem solving skills
* String attention to detail
* Aboility to exercise discretion with access to sensitive information
* Good communication skills both orally and on paper
* A team player who is willing to support team members and business managers
* Capable of working with staff at all levels
