Summary

Come and join us an Underwriting
and Fraud Analyst where you will play a key role in maintaining and
continually developing the Underwriting and Counter Fraud measures deployed at
application/quote/sale stage across AXA Direct’s Personal Lines products.

The UK personal insurance market is one
of the most competitive and advanced insurance markets in the world, and
profitable growth of personal business forms a key part of AXA Insurance’s
strategic plans.

The Underwriting and Fraud Department
sits within AXA Direct and is responsible for maintaining AXA’s underwriting
footprint across all personal lines products and also for identifying and
investigating fraudulent insurance applications, through a comprehensive
platform which detects and prevents fraud at all points of the quote/buy
journey and throughout the policy lifecycle.

You will be responsible for creating sound business analysis to monitor
and evaluate existing controls and processes and to determine the
appropriateness of requests to deploy new tools and techniques at application
stage in order to ensure the AXA business strategy is achieved.

What you will be
doing:

* Aid in the
creation / development of impact analyses which focus on the financial and
operational implications of Underwriting and Counter Fraud proposals to ensure
confident decisions are taken on how to improve the operating model and the
profit and loss.
* Develop and
improve existing and future preventative and predictive solutions in order to
optimise the Counter Fraud barrier. Support the design of technical solutions
for Counter Fraud requirements.
* Evaluate and
recommend proposals for changes to Underwriting rules to deliver benefit
through key performance metrics and in line with the AXA’s risk appetite.
* Feed into
Underwriting and Fraud analytical and data science projects leading to
financial opportunities (particularly for product profitability improvements).
Make recommendations for improvements to the business processes, operations,
product and platform.
* Build working
relationships across the business and become knowledgeable on all aspects of
the operational model and how this is subsequently represented in data.
* Research and
share new approaches to ensure that our analytical methods become and remain
market leading.
* Strongly
focus on maximising own effectiveness and efficiency as part of the team.
Develop own skills and competencies, share information, ideas and methods with
peers.
* Take any
steps needed to ensure all data is housed appropriately, understand & manage
risks associated with data and ensure full compliance with all relevant
legislation.

Qualifications

Who are we looking
for?

Education

* High
quality numerical degree and strong mathematical / logical capability –
minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree.

Experience

* Appreciation of aspects of Underwriting and Counter Fraud in General
Insurance, together with a basic understanding of AXA as a whole i.e. products
+ services offered.
* Understanding of Underwriting/Fraud controls at application stage and
how this can affect business profitability.

* Exposure
to logic/coding and prior experience with SAS, SQL, R/Python, VBA, (or
demonstrable ability to learn these packages quickly). Experience of
predictive modelling would be beneficial.

* Able
to grasp the significance / meaning of a range of technical and complex
issues. Inventive thinker and
problem-solver that is flexible and tenacious that can create / tailor
methods to suit problems.

* Unphased
by analysing vast quantities of diverse data with the target to generate
meaningful insight.

* Demonstrate
effective communication and relationship building skills. This includes
the ability to share technical information with a non-technical audience
so that it is informative and engaging.

* Ability
to plan and work under pressure and to strict deadlines whilst maintaining
reliability and accuracy.
