Overall Job Purpose

The Writer/ Researcher will work within the multi-award-winning Radio Times digital editorial team to formulate ideas, create content, perform administrative tasks and assist the editors and journalists in the day-to-day running of RadioTimes.com, apps and other digital products. The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a shift system across mornings, evenings and weekends reflecting the demands of a 7-day-a-week television and entertainment website. The role will require writing, research and administrative duties across all areas of television, film, on demand and general entertainment.

* Working independently and as part of a team to formulate interesting and exciting journalistic ideas around television, film, entertainment and on demand.
* Writing high-quality copy to tight deadlines in accordance with standards set out by editors
* Assisting editors and journalists with research tasks and special projects
* Performing daily administrative tasks on RadioTimes.com, apps and other digital products such as preparing DiscoverTV app choices and social media "What to Watch" guides
* Uploading and preparing magazine copy for publication online and on other digital platforms
* Working morning, evening and weekend news shifts as part as a rota system
* Attending industry events during the day and the evening to make contacts, gather news and conduct interviews
* Assist in managing and developing creative and innovative use of social media channels including Facebook and Twitter
* Other ad hoc duties

Knowledge, Experience & Competencies

* Excellent writing skills and a proven track record of developing interesting and innovative editorial ideas
* An ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
* An ability to multi-task and organise time efficiently
* A passion for journalism, television and pop culture
* A self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team
* A good understanding of social media and SEO
* A people person who is able to quickly build contacts both inside and outside Radio Times
